The 2017 Acura NSX edged closer to car shoppers' hands with the Thursday announcement that serial production of the hybrid coupe will begin in late April.
"Customer deliveries to commence thereafter," American Honda Motor Co. said in a statement.
The 2017 NSX, which targets the Audi R8 V10, McLaren 570GT and Porsche 911 Turbo, is priced at $157,800. Pricing includes a $1,800 destination charge.
Prospective buyers can configure their NSX online now and then request a one-on-one consultation with an Acura dealer who is also an authorized NSX retailer.
The handcrafted NSX is built at the all-new Performance Manufacturing Center, a high-tech facility in Marysville, Ohio.
Trial production has started, with an emphasis on world-class craftsmanship.
Honda said up to 11 coats of primer and paint, along with detailed hand polishing are a key part of the NSX build process.
Sixteen technicians "hand start each bolt on the NSX," Honda noted.
The car is subject to rigorous quality checks and every engine is broken in to the equivalent of 150 miles of service to ensure it is "track ready" upon customer delivery.
