At first glance they may not look like close rivals but upon comparing their specs the 2017 Nissan GT-R and Acura NSX are actually quite close together. For next year both designs have been unveiled, though the Acura reached much earlier than the GT-R.
Before getting to their specs, how has each one updated its look? While the NSX is pretty much a rebirth that is more within Audi R8 territory in terms of appearance, the refresh of the current-gen GT-R is subtler.
Though its slightly more aggressive face doesn’t really impress those familiar with it, Godzilla’s interior sees a bigger revamp than the previous model. Uninspiring as its new look may be, the GT-R through its hand-made 3.8L V6 adds 20hp to the 2016 model to push out 565hp in 2017.
Whereas the previous model dashes to 60mph in 2.9 seconds with a 191mph top speed, the new Godzilla does it 2.6 seconds and goes up to 196mph.
Compared to the GT-R the NSX is comes really close in performance. Driven by a 3.5L twin-turbo V6 engine that is also hand-made, the NSX churns out 573hp but sprints to 60mph in 3.0 seconds with an estimated top speed of 200mph.
